On January 10, 2026, more than 200 liturgical ministers from our southern Portage County Catholic communities gathered for a day of reflection and formation. We were honored to welcome Bishop Michael Woost, Auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Cleveland, as our guest speaker.
As a gifted liturgist, Bishop Woost led us through a rich journey of the Mass and the Sacraments. He explored not only the mechanics of the liturgy but the profound way it transforms us, shaping how we live following our encounter with the Divine.
For those unable to attend—or those who wish to revisit his insights—Bishop Woost has graciously allowed us to share recordings of his talks. We invite you to watch, learn, and be enriched by his wisdom.
About Bishop Woost
A native of Cleveland, Bishop Woost graduated from St. Ignatius High School and attended Borromeo and Saint Mary Seminaries. He was ordained to the priesthood for service in the Diocese of Cleveland in 1984. After ordination, he was assigned as parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish in Madison, where he served until being appointed to the diocesan Vocation Office, where he co-directed from 1988-1995. Bishop Woost then began graduate studies at the Catholic University of America. After earning a licentiate in sacred theology in 2000, he joined the faculty at Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of theology, where he still teaches sacramental-liturgical theology.
Two of Bishop Woost’s brothers, Father Dave Woost and Father Tom Woost, are priests who also serve as parish pastors in the Diocese of Cleveland.
Pope Francis appointed the Rev. Michael G. Woost as auxiliary bishop of Cleveland. In addition, he was also appointed as the interim director of the diocesan Office for Worship. Bishop Woost was ordained to the episcopate during Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on August 4, 2022.
